When Caroline introduces Sam to the secret poetry club at her school, Sam has to struggle with the emotional turmoil she is thrown into sparked by the people, the poems and most of all by reserved AJ. In the past she together with a friend gave him a hard time because of his stammer. There is only one chance for Sam to be allowed to join the poets, she has to apologize to AJ by a poem.
She can fulfil this task with some help from Caroline and for the first time for ages Sam has been happy again. Her therapist is glad, too, even if the obsessive-compulsive disorders Sam suffers from do not go away. But when AJ tells her that her friend Caroline committed suicide 8 years ago, Sam is totally confused. Has she now completely lost control about herself and thus about AJ and the poet club, too?
